As we move through 2025, Regions E-Zine continues to explore the theme of Transforming Regional Economies, in alignment with the Regional Studies Association (RSA) research priorities. The global landscape of regional development is evolving rapidly amid technological change, environmental pressures, and shifting geopolitical dynamics. In this context, Regions E-Zine serves as a platform for reflection, dialogue, and innovation—connecting policy, practice, and research to reimagine the future of regional economies.
Our Issue 23, Building Resilient and Sustainable Regional Economies – The Role of Place-Based Strategies, focuses on how regions can navigate uncertainty and foster long-term prosperity through locally grounded approaches. Amid economic shocks, climate challenges, and societal transitions, resilience has become a defining feature of successful regional policy and development. This issue invites contributions that examine how sustainability, circularity, and place-based thinking can drive regional transformation.
We welcome contributions that address (but are not limited to) the following themes:

The role of local actors and governance networks in fostering economic resilience.

Circular and regenerative economies as pathways to sustainable regional transformation.

This issue aligns with RSA research themes including Sustainability Transitions and the Environment, Circular Economies, Agglomeration and Clusters, and Peripheral, Remote, and Cross-Border Regions.
