This issue focuses on how labour markets, skills ecosystems, and mobility patterns intersect with structural change and uneven regional development. Core areas include:

  • The effects of green and digital transitions on regional jobs and skills trajectories
  • Spatially differentiated labour market responses to technological change
  • Patterns of intra- and inter-regional mobility and their implications for demographic and economic disparities
  • Place-specific skills formation, labour market integration, and policy responses

Strategic focus:

  • Skills as regional capabilities for adaptive economic performance
  • Institutional and policy frameworks that enable dynamic labour markets
  • Coordination between education, training systems, and industry needs

Deadline โ€“ Issue 25

Issue 25 (Regions as Connected Systems II) will run from May to the end of August 2026. The indicative submission deadline is the third week of August 2026.

Regions operates on a rolling publication basis. Articles are published as soon as they are submitted and finalised, rather than waiting for the formal closing date. Early submissions are therefore strongly encouraged in order to maximise visibility and engagement throughout the issue period.

Regions serves as the voice of the Regional Studies Associationโ€™s membership and provides a platform for accessible, forward-looking, and policy-relevant debate.
